From your first checkup to your big day, we’ll make your baby’s birth a very special experience

having your babyHaving a baby is one of life’s most precious journeys. At Lehigh Valley Health Network, it’s our mission to help make the birth of your baby a special and healthy experience. From your first doctor’s visit to the birth of your child, you’ll have peace of mind knowing that you’re in the care of the area’s most experienced provider of childbirth services. Our board-certified physicians and specially educated nurses are experts in pregnancy and childbirth care, welcoming 3,300 babies into the world each year.

With our family-centered approach, you will feel as if you are the only pregnant or laboring mother in our care. To make your big day as comfortable as possible, we will do everything we can in our Center for Mother and Baby Care at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest in Allentown, Pa., to support you. We’ll answer your questions, soothe your fears, and teach you to care for yourself and your baby during and after pregnancy. We’re even available by phone if you have questions after the birth of your child.

When you choose to have your baby at Lehigh Valley Health Network, you will:

  • Receive the best in ultrasound technology and other tests.  
  • Learn all about your journey ahead from childbirth, breastfeeding, HypnoBirthing and parenting classes
  • Have access to genetic testing if necessary   
  • Receive the care and expertise of our maternal-fetal medicine specialists (high-risk pregnancy specialists) if you or your baby need special care during pregnancy  
  • Deliver in our Center for Mother and Baby Care at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest where there’s free valet parking, a whirlpool tub to ease labor pains, private family rooms after birth, sleep chairs for your partner, security for you and your baby, and more.  
  • Feel confident that our maternal-fetal medicine and newborn specialists are always on-site and can be by your side within seconds if you or your baby requires special care during delivery  
  • Have peace of mind that our Level III neonatal intensive care unit at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest is the highest level in the region and is next to our labor and delivery suite   
  • Benefit from nurse educators and lactation consultants who can guide you in breastfeeding, newborn care and everything you need to know after birth
